Rick Henson, Owner
Rick is a proud Colorado native with rhythm in his soul and music in his bones. He honed his craft at the University of Northern Colorado, studying percussion performance and diving headfirst into a dynamic career as both a music educator and a freelance musician. Though well-versed in all things percussion, Rick found his true passion in the vibrant, infectious sounds of the steel pan, making it his specialty and sharing its magic with audiences far and wide. But Rick’s love for music extends beyond performance—it’s about community. When he heard that Allegro Music, the store where he taught, was on the brink of closing, he couldn’t stand by and let it happen. With a mix of determination and just the right amount of charm, he convinced his wife, Megan, that they should buy the store and keep its legacy alive. Now, as the proud owner, Rick ensures that Allegro Music remains a hub for musicians of all ages, a place where creativity and passion can flourish. Beyond the world of music, Rick takes his walk with Jesus seriously, letting faith guide his journey in life, family, and business. He and Megan have also taken on one of the most challenging yet rewarding gigs of all—homeschooling their six incredible children. If Rick isn't teaching, performing, or running the store, he's probably playing pickleball.

Tabor Opalla, Manager

I’ve been around music pretty much my whole life and mainly play keyboard. I’ve been at Allegro Music for about four years and currently work as a manager. My favorite part of the job is just getting people comfortable enough to jam and have fun with music, whether they’re brand new or have been playing forever. I always like hearing the different styles people are into and seeing the cool stuff they come up with when they play.

Sean Geisthardt, Marketing Manager

Hi! I'm Sean, and that's my little cat Henry. He's an idiot.

I've been working at Allegro for almost 18 years now. I actually started taking guitar lessons here when I was about 12 years old, so Allegro Music has pretty much been my second home ever since.

My main instruments are guitar, drums, and beatboxing, but I can hack my way through a few others... just not very well.

Music holds a special place in my heart, and I'm incredibly proud to have helped so many musicians of all ages and skill levels pursue their passion over the years. I'm grateful to be part of the Allegro crew and excited to see what the future holds for our local music community.

After being here this long, I've worn just about every hat imaginable around the shop. These days, I serve as our Marketing Manager and Guitar Technician, but you'll still find me helping out wherever I'm needed. If there's anything I can do for you, just ask. I'm always happy to help!

Rachael Puls, Lesson Admin

I grew up with two musician parents and found the love of music from an early age performing with them. My love of music continued to grow in college where I embraced the study of pedagogy, performance, and aesthetics.

My time at Allegro is spent teaching as well as creating and maintaining a lessons program. It has been fulfilling to teach and a pleasure being in an administrative role, striving for open, adaptive communication with teachers, students, and parents to make the lessons at Allegro enriching and engaging. My biggest wish is for every student to find joy in music and to find a teacher that encourages that joy.

Kyle Lucas, Web Admin & Accounts Receivable

Hey there, I’m Kyle! I’ve been playing and making music for 20 years now. While I have a massive love for all genres, Rock and R&B hold a special place in my heart. My main instruments are the guitar, cello, and vocals, though honestly, if it has strings, I’ve probably tried to play it!

I’ve been part of the Allegro Music family for just over a year, and I absolutely love our community and our mission to make music accessible to everyone, from absolute beginners to seasoned pros. It truly feels like a home away from home.

I’m excited to keep delivering the high-quality, friendly service you’ve come to expect here at Allegro. Never hesitate to come say hi or throw a question my way because I'm always down to talk music!

Julian Ruiz, Education Representative

Hello, my name is Julian and I'm proud to be on the Allegro Music team! I appreciate all instruments and styles of music but my primaries are the clarinet and saxophone. My love for music has been fostered by many great teachers who have inspired me to be dedicated to my craft and to my students. I find myself teaching and performing in equal amounts.

I'm also an Education Representative. As an EdRep, I'm a point of contact for local schools so that Allegro can help support their music programs. This helps us learn how to best service the students, teachers, and families of our musical community.

If I'm not teaching, performing, or on the road to the schools then you might find me on the repair bench. I mostly do woodwind repair and I'm eager to expand to more instruments in the future.

I'm learning every day and loving the process along the way!

Matt Spivack, Inventory & Receiving

I’m new to the Allegro Music team, spearheading the receiving and inventory management for our retail products. You’ll also see me up front helping our customers and nerding out over gear. I’ve been working in the music retail business for almost fifteen years and playing music semi-professionally for nearly twenty. I play guitar, bass, flute, and I sing, and have first-hand experience with all of these in the live and recording context that I can draw from to help meet our community’s musical needs. I’m personally a big fan of Guitars by Taylor and PRS, flutes by Powell, and basses by Ibanez, but I’m more than happy to discuss just about any piece of music gear. I’m excited to be a part of Allegro Music and look forward to seeing you in the shop!
